P&O Arvia vs Azura: Which Cruise Ship Is Better for You?

P&O Arvia vs Azura: Which Cruise Ship Is Better for You?

Quick answer: Choose Arvia if you want a much larger, newer ship with more dining and entertainment choices. Choose Azura if you prefer a more traditional, easier-to-learn ship and the itinerary matters more than having the newest facilities.

The biggest difference is scale

Arvia is designed as a large resort-style ship. That creates more choice but also more walking, more passengers and greater competition for the most popular venues. Azura feels more traditional and becomes familiar faster. Neither is universally better: the question is whether variety or simplicity improves your holiday.

Food and entertainment

Arvia gives you more venues to investigate and suits people who enjoy choosing something different each night. Azura still has included and speciality options, but the overall list is easier to understand. On either ship, check the current deck plan and dining page for your sailing because venues and operating arrangements can change.

Who should choose which ship?

  • Choose Arvia: first-time cruisers who like a busy resort, groups with different tastes and anyone excited by a wide choice of venues.
  • Choose Azura: passengers who like a classic cruise rhythm, people who dislike very large ships and travellers choosing primarily for warm-weather ports.
  • For either: compare the itinerary, dates and total price before becoming attached to the ship name.

A cheaper sailing on your second-choice ship can be better value than stretching the budget simply to board the newer vessel.

Our honest preference

We enjoyed both for different reasons. Arvia impressed us with scale and choice; Azura felt calmer to navigate and worked brilliantly as a base for Mediterranean port days. We would book either again, but not for exactly the same kind of trip.
